On Wednesday night Chas received the last few engine parts to rebuild his Honda CRF and by Midnight thursday the bike was back together and in Motard trim.
With help from Jay Normoyle at JSR Performance we got the brakes to stop and off we went. The tires were still on the rims from the last Motard event in Victoria in 2005, but with a new set of MIchelins coming for saturday we were all set. With no expectations for the weekend we were just happy to see Supermotard back in Victoria after 2 years and also to be part of it.
In the Saturday Australian Championships Chas Qualified for the first heat in 11th posistion with set up not quiet right yet in the heats he was certin he could progress forward.
In race 1 Chas made a good start and was up to as high as 5th place dicing with Factory Husquvarna rider Stuard Bennett but as the race drew on Chas began to stuggle with arm pump and slowly dropped back to 8TH posistion.
In race 2 Chas Again had a good start and was in a battle with Factory Aprillia rider Alex Gobert. With 3 laps to go Chas passed Gobert into the seccond last corner and started 2 pull away slowly. Chas unfortunletly was a little throttle heavy leaving the dirt section with 1 lap remaining and Highsided himself and the CRF down the track he remounted and managed to hold off the rest of the field for 11th place.
Chas Hern finished 8th over all for the round.
