After a great start to the Final round of the 2007 Australian Super-stock Championship Chas was in the hot seat to catch down Time Cowie for the final podium position on the out right podium. Chas went .4 seconds under Chris Trounsons qualifying lap record from last year to put his Yamaha R6 on pole position.
In Race 1 Chas took the hole shot and lead the race from start to finish going with in .1 off his qualifying time. This would bring him to within 5 points of Cowie and with Chas starting from the number 1 position all weekend he was confident to do so.
Unfortunately we woke up to poring rains on Sunday and it didn't stop raining for the whole day when the meeting was finally abandoned after only half the races were conducted.
When the lights went out in race 1 Sunday Chas was left spinning up the tires on the R6 at the staring line and went back to 10th place by turn 2. he managed to mind some kind of a grove and progressed through the field until he found himself sliding through another riders oil spill at turn 9 and slid off the track. The race was then declared 1 lap prior and Chas finished 9th. Half points were issued and some how the rider that caused the oil spill and the red flag was also included in the result this helping him claim the Championship later on.
In race to again spun up the tire off the line and went back wards in the pack, The track was well under water with river crossing and using the Pirelli road tires was scary an hell. Chas managed to finish 8th and was not able to chase down Tim Cowie for the Championship.
At the end of the year Ben Henry finished 1st on 353, Brayden Carr on 349, Tim Cowie on 331.5 and Chas Hern on 317
It has been a hard year for the Chas Hern racing team loosing out to a lap timer protest that cost 25 points and a chain brake while leading that he was in a good chance to win also.
Chas would like to thank the team and Sponsors for all there help this year Stafford Yamaha, BluGreen Multimedia, Hern Engineering, Mobil oils, C&C Motorcycle engineering, Carlision Panels, Casino Pools and Spas. Spidi, EK, Simford Welding and Emac electrical.
Also to his Dad Peter who has been to every this year helping prep the bike.
