At round 5 of the Australian road race championship Chas Hern again podium at a track he had never ridden. After a very wet Friday practice Chas rode to keep the bike on two wheels and try to learn what he could of the track. On Saturday the track was starting to dry and Chas hit pace straight away going fastest in the early stages, but as time clocked over he struggled to get a clear lap in traffic and was Th by the end of the session.
After a dryer track for Qualifying 2 Chas was again straight to the top of the sheets but again got stuck,in slower traffic and finished Th.
n race 1 Chas was up to P3 into turn 2 and by the turn 4 Hairpin he was 2nd, crossing over the line to start lap 2 Chas passed Reid for the lead and pulled a 2 second lead to the finish. Chas posted the fastest lap of the race a 59.8
Race 2 and Chas was into 3RD into turn 2 again but at turn 4 Carr went around the outside of Chas putting him back to 4TH. Chas was then passed by Local rider John Brewster. Chas managed to pass Reid and take 4TH.
Race 3 Chas was 4TH into turn 2 and was trying to get through the field as fast as he could. Into turn 2 on lap 2 Chas pushed the front to hard and slid the Stafford Yamaha R6 straight off the track, Chas managed to put his body and New SPIDI suit under the bike and saved it from stalling and remounted in last, Chas managed to re-pass many riders and finish 11TH setting the fastest lap again for the race a 59.2.
“I still have to learn the tracks on Friday practice” Commented Chas after the race.
“It’s my first year of racing and the team and I had no idea we could beat riders who have competed in this series before, I enjoyed the Tasmania circuit a lot but it’s hard to learn the track in 15 laps”.
“Saying that we won 1 race and was fastest in 2 out of 3 racers, so we are happy with that”It has been another up and down weekend but again the www.chashernracing.com team has shown they are more than capable of wining this championship in there first year.

Chas now sits 4TH in the Championship Henry leads on 253 followed by Braydon Carr [junior development Suzuki team] on 245, Tim Cowie [mad cow racing] on 218 and Chas on 197.
