After a top 5 finish in his first Australian National road race event Chas Hern was very happy with his result from Eastern Creek.
At round 2 and 3 the Stafford Yamaha/ Hern Engineering/ Blugreen multimedia Yamaha R6 fort back. From day 1 Chas was the man to beat, Being fastest in Thursday warm up, And qualifying 1st on Friday.
In race 1 he had a good start and was second into turn 2, at turn 7 on lap 1 he passed Carr for the lead and pulled to a 3 second lead before the red flag came out with 3 laps to go.
In the restart Carr again led into turn 1 but again Chas made a pass on the same lap at turn 9 and was not challenged again. In race 2 Chas was into turn 1 in 3rd position with Carr up front and Cowie in second. While trying to pass Cowie into turn 3 Chas had a different line into the turn to get a good drive out but left the door open and Henry moved up the inside putting Chas back to 4th. With 1 lap to go coming into the fist turn for the last time Chas tried to move up the inside of car for 3rd and out braked him self meaning he had to revert back to his supermotard days and battle the R6 through the dirt. Chas managed to keep it up right and not loose any positions and finish 4th. We decided to change the tire pressures for that race and the bike felt very soft because of it, So the next race we will be back on the pace.
Big Thanks to Stafford Yamaha, Hern Engineering, Blugreen Multimedia, Mobil Oils, C&C Motorcycle Engineering, And the Simford welding, Emac electrical, OPM team for all the support and help.
