In preperation for the up coming Australian Formula Xtreme Championships at Wakefield Park, Chas and Richard joined the development team at Phillip Island for round one of the Victorian Interclub Championships.
Frustration was the outcome with 3 Red flags Causing an akward qualifying session for the Super-Bike class for Chas, Richard and Danny. With a track temp of only 15o all day and the 3 riders all switching to Pirelli slicks for the meeting there was no time for set up and it would be a case of race by race set up.
Gena managed to put the ZXR 400 on the grid with no problems in the first club race starting right next to Chas. Danny started his his first ever race Race on the Chashernracing.com Suzuki GSXR 1000 from 12th and went to to finish 4th in the opening race. In race 1 for Richard the Panel Body Line Works 1098 Ducati unfortuneatly didn't make it back to the pit in one piece. After a bad Qualifying session he was making his way through the traffic when he was hit from behind by another riders bike and ended his race day due to Damage to his Ducati.
In the first Club Race Danny, Gen and Chas started from posistions 26th, 27th and 28th resectively. Chas and Danny got away and made there way through the huge field with Chas going on to take the win on the High Octane Motorcycles Yamaha R1 with Danny finishing in 16th on the chashernracing.com Suzuki GSXR 10000 and Gen making a pass to finish 27th on the Panel Body Line Works/Chashernracing.com ZXR 400.
Chas and Gen on the start line
Richard now down to one bike started the 400 race from posistion 6 on the grid but moved forward through the race to take the win. Throughout the race Richard noticed the Panel Body Line Works ZXR 400 had developed a slipping clutch so it would be his only race for the day.
In the 600 class Chas started from pole and went on to take the win on the Chashernracing.com Suzuki GSXR 600, the bike had some changes made since the last outing at the World Super Bikes but Chas decided to just play it safe and have some fun with Crazy man Super Daz. Daz later wearing his front wheel guard to pesintation on his head. His guard had came off his bike at turn one earlyer in the day.
In the only superbike race for the day Chas and Danny would start from 2nd and 27th on the grid Chas led for a few laps but was chased down and dragged to the line by the new Kawasaki ZX10R. Danny would have to retire from the race with the Data logging equipment becoming disslogged and causing some worries for Him.
Riders Comments:
Chas "We are making good progress with the High Octane Motorcycles R1, this is only the seccond time I have riden the bike and we are always making changes that are all for the better. A big thanks to all the High Octane Motorcycle racing team, my team mate Richard for making the bike look a Million Bucks, Stewart at SW racing for all the help over the weekend, David from Devil Exhaust systems, Marty from Under Ground Designs and my team members for all the help in working together this weekend".
Richard " I'm really anoid in the out come of my Ducati today, It's a shame when you get taken out by a lesser experinced rider and now we have a big job fixing it before Wakefield"
Danny " I wasn't sure what to expect as it was my first time racing a Super-Bike. I had a goal for this weekend that I fell just shy of so with some much needed suspension changes we can move forward and get better for next round."
Gen " It's almost been 2 years since I have been on the track and my bike so to come back and do close to my lap times 2 years ago i'm happy. My bike felt funny to ride but probibly because Chas has been playing with it."
