He was now entered and also a budget strong enough to run on Dunlop Slick racing tires instead of the control tire he ran at the World Super-Bike event earlier in the year. With 14 Factory bikes and 2 A grade privateers, Chas had set a goal that he wanted to finish top 15 for the weekend and achieve his fastest lap of the Phillip Island circuit.
In Qualifying, Chas put the Underground Design Suzuki GSXR 1000 onto the 3rd row in 12th.
The first race on Friday afternoon was under water and would be the first time Chas had raced on wets in his road racing career. He was 13th at the end of the first lap and as his confidence built up, quickly progressed through the field. By lap 3, Chas had pushed past Robbie Bugden and Daniel Stauffer into 8th position. A battle then began with Trent Gibson and Daniel Stauffer for 6th and on the last lap Chas went from 8th to 6th when he passed both Trent and Daniel around the outside of Honda corner and was able to hold them off to the line.
In the 2nd and 3rd race Chas was in a race long battle with Trent Gibson on a Joe Rocket Suzuki and Yarrive Konsky and finished in 11th in both races. In race 3 Chas had a gear selection problem and ran straight at Honda corner after his bike found many false neutrals. This
was the first mechanical problem for the year and was easily fixed though.
In race 4 Chas again went head to head with Gibson and Konsky eventually finishing in 9th and setting a lap time of 1:36.4, beating his personal best by 2 seconds and allowing him to finish in 9th outright for the weekend and second privateer.
